offering cops bribe
An Elkland woman is in McKean County Jail for allegedly offering state troopers sexual favors and money to get out of a DUI charge.
Kelsey Ray Schaul, 25, whose address was listed as Elkland and Stafford, Va., is charged with bribery, a third-degree felony; DUI — unsafe driving, a misdemeanor; and restrictions on alcoholic beverages, a summary.
According to the criminal complaint, on Sunday, a man contacted state police to report that Schaul had stolen his truck and left him at Sheetz. The trooper called her and told her she needed to return the truck, and she said she was just pulling into the parking lot of McDonald’s in Bradford. Troopers took the victim there, and he identified his truck and Schaul, sitting in the driver’s seat with the truck running and a can of beer in the cupholder, the complaint stated. She showed multiple signs of impairment, and couldn’t tell police why she left the victim at Sheetz. When she was placed under arrest for DUI, Schaul offered them sexual favors to keep her out of jail. As the troopers took her to Bradford Regional Medical Center, she sexually propositioned them, and then offered them money to let her go, the complaint stated.
Schaul was arraigned Sunday by District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000. She was scheduled for Central Court on Thursday.
KANE — Drug-related charges against a Kane woman were held to McKean County Court Monday in a hearing before District Judge Dave Engman.
Corinne Defiore, 44, of 509 Chase St., will face charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. She eventually agreed to allow a search of the home, and officers found more than 30 grams of marijuana along with pipes, rolling papers, a scale, seeds, grinders, jars of marijuana, and hemp wraps used for smoking marijuana. Police noted she was cooperative throughout the incident, the complaint stated.
She remains free on $2,500 bail. She is represented by Public Defender Phil Clabaugh.
