SMETHPORT — A Georgia man is in McKean County Jail following a traffic stop Monday night where he was allegedly found to be in possession of drugs.
Eric Barnett, 21, of Walthourville, Ga., is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors; DUI drugs, a misdemeanor; operating a vehicle with no rear lighting and failure to use low beams, summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, at 11:19 p.m., on U.S. Route 219 near Browntown Road in Bradford Township, a car driven by Barnett failed to activate its low-beam headlights for a passing state trooper. The trooper turned around and stopped Barnett’s car. While Barnett was speaking with the trooper at his window, a second trooper walked around the passenger side of the car and saw a bag containing blue pills. Beside it was a bag containing THC edibles.
After searching the car, police found 46 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, 28 grams of marijuana, a scale, four orange pills, a THC vape, a $2 bill with white residue on it, a box containing five pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, a bag containing 21 grams of mushrooms, four bags of THC edibles, and a bag containing 94 ½ pills weighing 25.3 grams, the complaint stated.
He was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for a blood draw, the complaint stated.
Barnett was arraigned Monday before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in Central Court on Feb. 15.
