A Bradford man was sent to McKean County Jail following a Saturday arraignment on allegations including DUI and fleeing from police.
Eric D. Smith, 43, of 1185 High St., was arrested by Bradford City Police following a traffic stop on Marion Avenue at 3:06 a.m. Saturday.
According to the criminal complaint, around 3 a.m. Saturday, a police officer saw a car driven by Smith make a turn from Barbour Street onto North Center Street without using a signal. The officer turned around to follow him at which time Smith’s car cut through the former bank parking lot and onto West Washington Street. The police officer activated the lights and siren on his car, and Smith turned onto Interstate Parkway and Willard Avenue, and then on to Poplin Avenue before turning off all exterior lights of the car, traveling across West Washington Street and onto Marion Avenue before stopping.
The officer asked Smith why he was fleeing from police. He said he wanted to “avoid any trouble” and was “just trying to get home,” the complaint stated. He admitted to consuming alcohol at the St. Bonaventure basketball game earlier in the evening.
Smith failed field sobriety testing and a warrant was obtained for a blood draw, the complaint indicated. Upon searching Smith, police found suspected marijuana and a vape pen, the complaint read.
Smith was arraigned before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
