Smethport man jailed for alleged threats
A Smethport man is in McKean County jail for allegedly making threats against a woman while she was on the phone with the victims’ resource center.
Brandon Chase, 29, of West Green Street, is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and three summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Smethport police were called to Chase’s residence by the victims’ resource center for a possible domestic incident. A representative had told police that they were on the phone with a woman when they heard Chase threaten to kill her several times. The victim told police that Chase had gone outside and kicked and punched her vehicle several times, the complaint stated.
When police spoke to Chase, he became irate because she had called the police. He was taken into custody and transported to Smethport Police Department, where he continued to yell obscenities at police, the complaint stated.
He was arraigned Tuesday night before on-call District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is scheduled for Central Court on Feb. 1.
