SALAMANCA, N.Y. — Country star and “American Idol” winner Scott McCreery is coming to the Seneca Allegany Event Center to deliver a knock-out night of music on April 13.
Tickets start at $45 and go on sale at noon Friday.
Hailing from Garner, N.C., McCreery burst onto the country music scene in 2011 as the winner of season 10 of “American Idol.” His latest single, “Can’t Pass the Bar,” was released last Friday, and is a tribute to 1990s country and a celebration of the end of the work week, McCreery said in a recent interview.
“I grew up loving ‘90s country music, especially the barn burning songs. I wanted one of my own, so I got together with some of my buddies and we wrote it,” McCreery told Country Now. “Can’t wait to perform this song live on the Cab in a Solo Tour.”
Setting his sights on a music career from a young age, McCreery began learning guitar around 9 or 10 and sang in school and church. He even starred in a school production of “Bye Bye Birdie,” playing Conrad Birdie. McCreery’s home near Raliegh remains an important part of his life.
“I still love it so much. All my friends and my family are right there,” McCreery told Taste of Country. “It’s getting bigger, but you can still go to Angie’s Restaurant and you’ll see all the folks I grew up going to church with, playing ball with. [My friends’ parents] might still go to eat there. It’s a trip down memory lane for me anytime I get to go back.”
McCreery’s debut studio album, “Clear as Day,” was released in October 2011. He made history as the first Country artist and youngest male artist of any genre to debut his first solo album on the Billboard Top 200, and the album has since been certified platinum in the United States.
From there, he began winning the hearts of critics and audiences alike with his deep singing voice, traditional Country style and downhome Southern charm.
McCreery has amassed a wave of hits, including “Five More Minutes,” “In Between,” “Damn Straight,” “I Love You This Big,” “The Trouble With Girls,” “See You Tonight,” and more.
Setting a new record in July 2017 with “Five More Minutes,” McCreery became the only country music artist in Country Aircheck/Media base history to chart a song without the backing of a record label, and it later topped Billboard in February 2018. His fourth album, “Seasons Change,” was released in March 2018 and became McCreery’s fourth Top 10 album in the United States. His fifth album, “Same Truck,” was released on September 17, 2021.
McCreery’s Cab in a Solo Tour kicks off Jan. 26 in Troy, Ohio. Named after his single released in October, McCreery said he’s happy to have Anne Wilson join the show, and either Greylan James or Noah Hicks will be opening up the show, depending on the city.
“I’m on the road year ‘round, but I always love putting together specific tours and I think next year’s Cab in a Solo Touris gonna be one of my favorites,” he said in a release. “And who knows, maybe I’ll share a few songs from my upcoming new album. I’m looking forward to it.”
