U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, in looking back on 2023, talked about “progress” and “good paying jobs” in an article in the Dec. 30 edition of The Era. He and President Joe Biden just cost Emporium/Cameron County over 1,000 jobs with this push for electric vehicles. This means the loss of over $35 plus million in wages and fringes for a county of approximately 4,700 residents; this is devastating.
Casey may not know it, but industry is leaving Pennsylvania at an alarming rate and going south to the Right to Work states. I guess their alleged “anti-union” activities and hiding their greed is in his opinion causing inflation. Maybe he needs to be made aware that he and Biden have spent over $3 TRILLION dollars in the last three years. You can’t print dollars at that rate and not see a rapid rise in inflation.
Lastly, what did he do for the powdered metal/sintered metal industry? Was he the one who helped American Axle buy out the GKN’s P/M connecting rod operation in Emporium? Thanks a lot, Bob Casey. This guy knows nothing about manufacturing or the industry of this area — least of all the powdered metal industry.
Don’t let his alleged 2023 “progress” fool you. Oh, and when it comes to infrastructure, check the number of American-made machines doing the work; it appears it’s been good for foreign makers of dozers, backhoes, graders, etc.
Casey has been riding on his father’s coattails for years. Pennsylvania needs a change.
