SMETHPORT — A Bradford woman was sent to McKean County Jail after an arrest for allegedly shoplifting $137 worth of merchandise at The Dollar Tree.
Donielle R. Goodmote, 49, of 63 Wildwood Ave., is charged with retail theft, a third-degree felony as a third or subsequent offense.
According to the criminal complaint, on Saturday, Foster Township Police were called to The Dollar Tree at the Bradford Mall for a female taking items without paying. Upon arrival, the officer saw Goodmote “stuffing items into her purse and a reusable bag sold inside Dollar Tree.”
When confronted by the officer, she said she was going back to her cart. When the officer asked to see her purse, she wouldn’t show it to him. The officer placed her under arrest, and under subsequent search, she was found to have $137 worth of unpaid merchandise in her purse and the bag. She claimed she was planning to pay for it, but had $150 worth of items in her cart and $127 on her to pay for it all, the complaint stated.
The officer noted she has two prior retail theft charges through Foster Township Police.
She was arraigned by on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. She is scheduled for Central Court on Thursday.
