The election for Potter County commissioners’ seats remained up in the air Wednesday as a total of write-in votes exceeded votes received by two Democratic candidates.
Who those write-in votes will go to must be determined by the county’s Return Board, which will begin the vote certification process later this week.
Unofficial results showed incumbent Republicans Nancy J. Grupp with 2,735 votes and Paul W. Heimel with 2,718 votes.
Republican Robert Rossman ran a write-in campaign and is believed to have secured the majority of the 1,319 write-in votes cast Tuesday.
Democrats Jenna Maiuro Gurney received 1,013 votes while Jack Keifer received 712.
In the election for other courthouse offices, Republican Kevin Siska was unopposed for county sheriff, while incumbent Treasurer Krista M. Miller, incumbent Register of Wills & Recorder of Deeds Nicole F. Larsen and Ashley Gledhill for prothonotary, all Republicans, were unopposed.
In Elk County commissioners elections, incumbent M. Fritz Lecker, a Republican, topped the unofficial voting with 4,440 votes followed by incumbent Democrat Matthew Quesenberry Sr. with 3,470 votes and Republican Greg Gebauer with 3,396 votes. Democrat Raymond Krise Jr. was fourth with 2,254 votes.
The race for county treasurer was contested as Democrat Connie Herzing ran against Republican Matthew Frey. Unofficially, Frey received 4,646 votes to 3,017 for Herzing.
In St. Marys, voters selected three candidates for city council, deciding between Democrat Bob Roberts and Republicans Anthony Gregory, Joe Sarginger and Stephen Bagley. Unofficially, Gregory received 2,064 votes followed by Sarginger (2,042) and Bagley (2,021). Roberts was fourth (1,512).
