EMPORIUM — The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is excited to bring back Cards for Troops Program ahead of the holiday season. Card kits will be available Nov. 13-30 and must be returned to the library by Dec. 9 to be included in Emporium’s Military Christmas Boxes this year.
The library invites area youth to use the take home craft kits, which are full of all the supplies needed to create a custom holiday card for a military member serving abroad. The craft kit includes a blank card, custom messages you can add, and lots of stickers and other items you can use to decorate. Glue sticks can be provided upon request. We encourage you to use markers, pencils or crayons from home to add more fun to your cards.
The library will also bring back the opportunity to drop in and create cards in the library multipurpose room on Dec. 8 and 9 during the library’s regular hours. Everything needed to decorate cards, including some items that can’t go into the to-go kits, will be laid out on tables for participants to use.
“The drop-in crafting days are a great time to bring the whole family for a fun crafting activity with a good cause,” said Librarian, Yelena Kisler. “This program has done so well in the past few years, and we really want to keep that energy going strong.”
