The Bradford junior high football team closed out their season with a come-from-behind victory over Port Allegany, winning 7-6 with defense leading the comeback.
Playing under the lights at Parkway Field, the Owls found themselves down 6-0 at halftime. However, with a renewed aggression in the last two quarters, Bradford pulled themselves back into the driver’s seat, posting a shutout to end the game.
“We found ourselves in trouble with penalties and got ourselves behind, but the kids came back,” said Bradford head coach Mike Gow. “They never gave up and we’re very proud of them.”
Quarterback Lucas Wallace threw for 44 yards, connecting on seven of his 13 attempts. Wallace also rushed for 66 yards on 11 carriers, finding an 11-yard score for the Owls. Max Gow had three catches for 18 yards.
On defense, Bentley Evans did it all, recording two sacks, one fumble recovery and one blocked punt. Keenan Miller had a team-high seven tackles, followed by Wallace with six and Brady Rosendahl with five. Colby Blauser and Madoux Benjamin both tallied two sacks each in the win.
Ending their season with a win, the Owls finish 4-4.
