SMETHPORT — A moment of silence at the beginning of Tuesday’s meeting of the McKean County Commissioners was held for Harrijane Hannon Moore, a former commissioner and register of wills for the county who died Sept. 29.
Before the meeting began, solicitor Anthony Clarke said a technical glitch on the county’s website prevented the agenda from being available 24 hours prior to the meeting, as is required by law. The Office of Open Records was consulted, and said the meeting could move forward, as it had been advertised for that time and place.
During the meeting, the commissioners read proclamations marking October as domestic violence and breast cancer awareness month, along with handling regular business.
The commissioners approved tax exempt requests from the City of Bradford for 22 Congress St. and from the Borough of Kane for 400 Park Ave. and 320 Welsh St.
Also approved was a refund of county taxes in the amount of $792.09 to Kendall Avenue Development LLC for county taxes paid at a discount of an assessment that was adjusted per a formal appeal.
Keating Township was reimbursed from American Rescue Plan Act funds for $58,637 for blight remediation. A second ARPA allocation was approved, this one for the Northern PA Regional College in the amount of $8,400 to support the EMT training program. “This will be for students participating from McKean County,” said commissioner Chairman Tom Kreiner.
A resolution was approved to modify the county’s 2019 Community Development Block Grant program budget to reallocate $78,371 to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s ADA improvements. “{span}Pitt-Bradford will use this funding from the McKean County’s FFY 2019 Community Development Block Grant to enhance accessibility on campus by adding 14 additional ADA-compliant automatic door openers in various campus buildings,” said Pat Frantz Cercone, university spokeswoman, on Tuesday afternoon.
A juvenile probation service grant agreement in the amount of $34,718 was approved.
The commissioners approved a hazardous material response fund grant agreement between the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and McKean County in the amount of $13,097. A service provider agreement for credit card processing was approved for the treasurer, prothonotary, register of wills and recorder of deeds offices.
The next regular meeting of the commissioners is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 24.
