HS CROSS COUNTRY: Coudy boys, OV girls win at NTL cross country meet

SHINGLEHOUSE — Competing at the North Tier League meet, Kevin Sherry was able to lead his Falcons squad to victory, setting a boys record along the way. On the girls side of the track, host-team Oswayo Valley was able to secure first place.

Sherry finished first overall with a time of 16:07, a time which not only beat the next best runner by nearly two minutes, but also broke the course record which had been set in 2012. Following Sherry was the Coriaty brothers, Andrew and Travis, who finished in second (17:46) and third (18:00) for OV respectively. Rounding out the top five was Brady Abdo of OV (18:21) and Northern Potter’s Joseph Lehman (18:48.)

Coudy also won overall with a score of 24 while Smethport claimed silver with a 41. Otto-Eldred came in third with a 70 and NoPo finished last with a 76.

The girls race was led by Olivia Cook, who represented the Lady Green Wave with a leading time of 21:19. Teah Howard came in second for the Lady Hubbers (22:46), followed by Cameron County’s Clara Clark (23:16), O-E’s Julia Rosenswie (23:36) and OV’s Ella Bee (23:44).

The Lady Green Wave by a narrow margin, earning a 37 while Smethport was close behind with a 40. NoPo ended with a 62 and O-E earned a 77.
