The price of a dozen eggs has skyrocketed in the past year.

In Pennsylvania, according to Instacart, prices increased 89% from December 2021 to December 2022.

Be thankful you don’t live in Iowa where Instacart says prices increased 153%.

A dozen eggs in Hawaii will cost you an average of $9.73 (that’s 81 cents per egg). The average price in Pennsylvania is $4.52 a dozen, according to Instacart.

“Over the past several weeks, we’ve observed how the price for a dozen eggs has skyrocketed across the country. We looked at Instacart purchase data and have found that the price Instacart customers have spent on a dozen eggs has increased by 54% year-over-year, comparing December 2022 to December 2021,” Instacart said.

The average price for a dozen eggs is highest in these five states, according to Instacart:

Hawaii — $9.73

Florida — $6.36

Alabama — $6.12

Nevada — $6.07

California — $6.05

The lowest average prices for a dozen eggs are found in these states:

Missouri — $4.24

Nebraska — $4.25

Indiana — $4.33

Ohio — $4.39

Kansas — $4.41
