Bring the kids, and enjoy a free evening of fun today, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Bradford Alliance Church, 240 Minard Run Road; then, scatter about the church lawn to enjoy the Pennhills Golf Club fireworks display, which is scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. Visitors are advised to bring chairs or blankets to sit on.
Rob Jeffrey, pastor of the Bradford Alliance Church, explained this has been a well-attended event each year, with 300-400 people in past years. He hopes the trend keeps going up and more people come and enjoy time out with their families, “as we celebrate our privilege to live in a free country.”
Enjoy the company of each other and watch the kids play, while waiting for the fireworks to start.
“And, this year, we are adding a petting zoo,” said Jeffrey. “We already have bouncy houses, a campfire, egg races, games with prizes — two bicycles, one for a girl and one for a boy — s’mores, hot dogs and more that I can’t recall.
“Oh, and the watermelon eating contest was such a success last year, we plan to do it again this year,” Jeffrey confirmed. Additional activities will include shooting basketballs, horseshoes and corn hole games.
He continued, “Everything is absolutely free. We want to bless the community.”
Jeffrey stated the church does not want anything in return, nothing, “This is our chance to connect with and give back to the community, to our community. We want only to enjoy this blessing with the community.”
