Cuba police program on how to react to active-shooter event

CUBA — The Cuba Library will host a presentation by the Town of Cuba Police Department at 6 p.m. June 9 on what civilians should do if confronted with an active-shooter event.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training is designed and built on the “avoid, deny, defend” strategy. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of law enforcement and civilian response options.

Statistics show that 52% of active shooter incidents occur in the commercial sector (businesses and other commerce locations), nearly 25% occur in the education sector and the remaining incidents occur in government, religious, residential and healthcare sectors.

The presentation is free and open to all residents interested in attending. Contact the library with questions at (585) 968-1668.
