HS Track: Lady Owls win seven medals at Altoona

ALTOONA — Friday evening’s weather conditions were less than ideal for a region-wide invitational.

The Mountain Lion Classic went on as scheduled, however, and the Bradford girls track and field team returned from Friday’s rain-soaked meet in Altoona with a host of medals. Abbie Nuzzo placed 5th in the triple jump with a leap of 31-9, headlining the Lady Owls’ results.

Abbigail Schleicher added an 8th-place finish for Bradford in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 13.53 seconds. Sophia Asp was 10th in discus with a throw of 81-1, while teammate Kalie Dixon was 18th with a toss of 63-8.

Eliana Curcio was 11th in triple jump, leaping 29-8. Two of the Lady Owl relay teams finished 5th at their respective distances.

The 3200-meter team of Caitlyn Taylor, Bella Prince, Marissa Miller and Korie Dixon was 5th in 10:27, while the 400-meter squad of Kelci Little, Emma Swanson, Alexia Corignani and Miller was 5th in 54.65 seconds.

Miller was Bradford’s lone double winner.

The Lady Owls will host Punxsutawney at 4 p.m. Tuesday for Senior Night, their last home meet of the season.

WARREN — The Fretz boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Beaty Middle School Track Invitational Wednesday, as Andrew Giordano earned triple-winner status and four other Bradford athletes were double winners.

Giordano won shot put and discus for the boys while running on the victorious 400-meter relay alongside Kaden Kicior, Matt DeCasper and Landon Lohrman. He also placed 2nd in javelin.

Lohrman added another win of his own, claiming the 200, while also placing 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in long jump.

Kicior won javelin while placing 2nd in discus. DeCasper added a win in the 400.

Logan Kohler and Danny Marasco turned in two wins each; Kohler taking home the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles while Marasco won the long jump and triple jump. Both ran on the 2nd-place 1600 relay team, as did Lorenzo Aiello and Evan Troisi. Aiello won the 100 and placed 2nd in the 200.

Bradford’s 3200 relay team of Evan Soto, Tyler Simmons, Kaydn Tessena and Marcus Terwilliger placed 2nd.

Olivia Funk and Alyssa Mangold each added a win on the girls’ side, as Funk won the 300 hurdles while Mangold won the triple jump. Funk also ran on Bradford’s 1600 relay with Ky Schneider, Arayah Holley and Jaydon Hogue, which finished 3rd.

Hogue added 3rd-place finishes in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Kendyl Cruz finished 3rd in both the 100 and 3200 relay, running the latter race with Mackenzie Gomez, Miley Swanson and Kiersten Taylor.
