Mark Kroos, who plays two guitar necks at the same time, will perform on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Open Arms Church in Bradford.
“As a lifelong guitarist myself, it is amazing to see Mark’s unique, piano-like approach to the instrument,” said Rich Dennison, worship ministry coordinator at Open Arms. “He is a great example of how our God-given talents are not limited to the standards of how we use these talents. Guitars are tools of expression, and Mark takes full advantage of what is possible with it. There is no limit.”
Kroos, of Central Florida, has an instrumental style characterized by open harmonies, polyphonic textures and a tapping technique. He draws influence from folk, Celtic, indie and punk rock artists as well as guitarists, such as Michael Hedges, Tommy Emmanuel and Leo Kottke.
He will play songs, such as “Dueling Banjos” and “Come Together,” along with tunes from his newest album.
In July of 2011 Kroos competed in and was awarded first place, in Guitar Player Magazine’s International Guitar Superstar Competition in Nashville. He has also landed full sponsorships with D’Addario Strings, Planet Waves Cables, Genz Benz Amplifiers, Ovation Guitars, Kopf Percussion and Kyser Capos.
His work includes “Clarity,” a collection of prayerful pieces; along with “Down Along the Lines of Joy,” “And Grace Will Lead Me Home,” and “The Sound of Snow.”
This will not be his first time at Open Arms. He performed there twice, including in 2016.
This free event will be held at the church, 1289 E. Main St. and donations will be accepted.
