    TOPS #16

    The weekly meeting of TOPS #16 was held on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church at 54 E. Corydon St.

    The meeting was called to order by Leader Vickie Johnson with the TOPS pledge. The song was “Help me tender” to the tune of “Love me tender.”

    Weight Recorder Carole VanSickle and Assistant Weight Recorder Barb Smead weight in 15 members with a loss of 7.3 pounds.

    One stayed the same, two were excused and two were to keep calories.

    Best Loser of the Week is Jeanne Miller, Best Loser in Waiting and Officer of the week is Barb Smead. The secretary’s report was read by Nan Stoling. The smile for the day was read by Jessie Skillman.

    Nickelodeon was pasta. The food to avoid is bread. The vegetable is brussels sprouts and the fruit is apples. The healthy tips were by Elaine Harris, the fashion tip by Dianna Lewis, and the joke by Jeanne Miller.

    The food chart was won by Barb Smead. The quarter contest was won by Jamie Larson and Liz Tanner. The program was by Liz Tanner on food labels and how to read them. The meeting was adjourned with the Friendship Circle and the TOPS prayer.

    Draping of the Charter was observed for deceased sisters Harriet Caiola and Nita Kohler.

    In-house scholarship essay entries are due May 1. Rules and applications are at the club.

    The District 19 Spring Banquet will be held here in Bradford on Saturday at noon. RSVPs are required. Food prep and decorating will be done Friday evening around 6.

    On May 7, purse bingo will be held at 3 p.m. Tickets are available now, at $30 advance/$35 at the door, which includes bingo packet and appetizers. There will be basket auctions, a 50/50 and door prizes. Any member wishing to donate a snack food or appetizer, it would be appreciated. Doors will open at 2 p.m. in the VFW Event Center. After, from 7 to 11 p.m. ‘Marshmellow Overcoat’ will be entertaining. Members & Guests with Proper ID.

    On May 14, a chicken barbecue will be held at 1 p.m. There will be 100 dinners, and pre-orders are recommended. There will be take out or dine in for $10 each.

    ‘Randy Andreano’ will be entertaining from 2 til 6 p.m. Auxiliary is asked to help prep sides the night before and donate a dessert if you can.

    On June 26, there will be a Euchre Tournament in honor of Mary Farnsworth’s wish to help Homeless Veterans.

    On July 3 will be a Big Bang Cash Bash. Amy has tickets now. If you need some for you or to sell, get a hold of her. It will be $100 a ticket. Proceeds will be going to the Building Fund for improvements. There are multiple lines for names on the tickets if you wish to share costs. Drawings will be held LIVE online after Bingo is over.

    Finally — nominations and election of officers was held, and 2022-2023 officers for Frances Sherman VFWA are in place and installation will be May 18. Come at 6 p.m. for a burger before the meeting.
