SPRING CLEANING: It’s time to get started on the least fun part of spring, annual housekeeping chores.
According to a survey completed by Lombardo Homes only 49 percent of respondents say they partake in annual spring cleaning. When it comes to household chores — how do you divvy them up? It’s a topic that gets people talking, and one that has caused tension in at least 54% of homes.
The top four most hated chores, and probably the ones that need to be done the most often, are cleaning and sanitizing the bathroom, washing dishes, doing laundry and cleaning the refrigerator. Which of these do you trade off with your significant other or bribe your children to do? Many squabbles come from trying to decide who does what chores around the house.
Living through the pandemic has probably led many to keep cleaner houses, especially with all the remote workers.
There’s no question that remote work has made it easier to get chores done. Nearly two in five of those working from home said they take some time during the workday to do household chores, such as washing dishes, doing laundry, and preparing meals. Twenty-nine percent admitted to doing housework while on a work call, and almost a quarter (24%) said they spend about a half-hour of their workday doing chores.
Or are you a procrastinator? People have mastered the art of procrastination…More than 4 in 5 people put off doing those chores that they hate doing, per the survey.
Procrastinate no more. Start with the least detestable task on your list. Get it done. Maybe clean the junk drawer(s) out to get a start on your spring cleaning. Then keep crossing things off your list.
