A West Seneca, N.Y., man was arraigned Monday in Bradford on allegations of assaulting a Bradford man outside a basketball game at Bradford High School in February.
Bradley K. Havers, 21, of 14 Morris Crest, is charged with simple assault and strangulation, second-degree misdemeanors, and harassment, a summary offense.
According to the criminal complaint, at 8:40 p.m. Feb. 18, a male victim walked up to an on-duty police officer providing security at the boys varsity basketball game and said he had been physically assaulted in the Willard Avenue parking lot of the high school.
Upon investigation, police learned that the victim was walking through the lot toward his vehicle when Havers tackled him from behind. Havers put his arm around the victim’s neck, placing him in a choke hold, which obstructed his breathing, police said.
Police obtained surveillance video of the incident from the school district, the complaint alleged.
Havers was arraigned before District Judge Dom Cercone and released on $2,500 unsecured bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 4.
