TURTLEPOINT — Locally sourced fresh produce, hand-crafted artisan wares, cleaning supplies and household items are just some of the many items being sold from the Turtlepoint Farmers’ Market coming to the Turtlepoint Park in May.
The Community Farmers’ Market will be open to Turtlepoint residents and residents from surrounding areas, beginning the second Saturday in May from 9 a.m. until noon at the Turtlepoint Park on Turtlepoint Larrabee Road.
Every second Saturday of the month, May through October, local vendors meet at the Turtlepoint park to sell freshly grown produce, crafts and other local goods. Produce items sold vary depending on what is in season, according to Market Organizer Mary Jordan.
“Our primary focus is to provide fresh local produce to our community, from our community,” said Jordan.
Vendors available at the first few markets this year will include a few Amish women providing baked and canned goods, produce and plants. There is also a gentleman who specializes in wood carving and hand-crafts wooden bowls, cutting boards and various other wood crafts.
There is a vendor who sells naturally based cleaners utilizing essential oils as well as a woman who sells her hand-crafted painted rocks, “which are beautiful,” stated Jordan. Another vendor sells reusable bags crafted from used feed bags, as well as produce. A family who sells pumpkins and maple products. There will also be additional produce vendors and possibly a beekeeping vendor selling fresh honey.
“The vendors change from month to month, and we are really wanting to expand the number of vendors,” explained Jordan.
The market takes place each second Saturday of the month, rain or shine, as the park is equipped with a pavilion, tables and chairs. Setting up and selling products is free at the Turtlepoint Farmers’ Market. Market organizers welcome any individuals who would like to participate.
