Free COVID testing sites will be coming to McKean County over the next few weeks.
At Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, chairman Tom Kreiner said the state’s contracted lab of AMI will be in the area for free drive-through COVID testing between Feb. 15 and 19, and 22 to 26.
A testing drive will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 54 East Corydon St. from Feb. 15 to 19. From Tuesday through Friday, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Another testing drive will be held in Smethport Feb. 22 to 26 at McKean County Route 6 Complex next to the 9-1-1 Center. It will be a drive-through testing site as well. The hours will be Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, McKean County had 29 new cases of COVID as of Tuesday for a total of 7,837, and a seven-day average of 19.1 cases. There were six patients hospitalized as of Tuesday. As for vaccines, there were 4,393 county residents partially covered, 17,452 fully covered and 7,013 who received a booster dose.
Elk County had 21 new cases as of Tuesday for a total of 6,896, and a seven-day average of 77.9 cases. There were three patients hospitalized as of Tuesday. Regarding vaccines, there are 1,799 county residents partially covered, 16,284 fully covered and 7,888 who received a booster dose.
Potter County had five new cases for a total of 3,025, and a seven-day average of 6.3 cases. There were four patients hospitalized as of Tuesday. As for vaccines, there were 1,264 county residents partially covered by vaccine, 5,916 fully covered and 2,515 who received boosters.
Cameron County had three new cases for a total of 788, and a seven-day average of three cases. As for vaccines, there have been 236 county residents partially covered, 2,404 fully covered and 1,196 who received an additional dose.
