President Judge John H. Pavlock is informing residents of McKean County that the Magisterial District Reestablishment Plan for McKean County is available for public inspection and written comment.
As required by 42 Pa.C.S.A §1503, in each year following that in which the Federal decennial census is officially reported as required by Federal Law the court shall reestablish the number, boundaries and classes of magisterial districts within each judicial district. As required by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, each judicial district will advertise the proposed reestablishment plan for 30 days to provide an opportunity for public comments.
This plan and recommendation are being issued to notify the residents of McKean County of the proposed realignment and the elimination of one of our current four Districts. A detailed Plan and analysis, which sets forth the reasons for this change, is available for full review. A copy of this recommendation is available at each District Court in McKean County as well as the Court Administrator’s Office in the Courthouse in Smethport. You can also review the plan and recommendation by visiting the McKean County Website at www.mckeancountypa.org under Court/Court of Common Pleas.
Anyone who wishes to submit public comment regarding the proposed realignment should submit such comment in writing addressed to the Court Administrator, 500 W. Main St., Smethport, PA 16749. Comments received shall be included with the final report submitted to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court regarding the proposed realignment. Comments will be accepted through Feb. 27, 2022.
