A Bradford family spread some holiday joy to residents of the Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center recently.
David Hendryx, a 6-year-old student at The Learning Center, visited the Pavilion for the Christmas holiday to spread some holiday cheer to the residents who do not have families to celebrate at this time of year.
Not only did David provide cookies and snacks for residents, he also read “The Night Before Christmas” to residents.
David decided to dress-up as Santa Claus while his mother, Amy Hendryx dressed as a reindeer, and to round out the family affair, her husband played the role of an elf.
“David’s grandmother spent quite a bit of time in the Pavilion, while his grandfather also spent time in the Pavilion recovering from multiple surgeries — so the Pavilion is very important to David and close to his heart,” said Amy Hendryx.
David’s grandmother, on his father’s side, is also a nurse at the Pavilion.
While David took a tour around the Pavilion dressed as Santa, with his helpers (the reindeer and elf) he played Christmas-themed music while visiting with residents.
While bringing smiles and Christmas cheer to Pavilion residents, David was very excited to be allowed back into the building to continue this tradition, after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The holiday fare took place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 19 and residents were overjoyed to have a holiday surprise, said his mother.
