SMETHPORT — Smethport’s swarming defense set the tone early, and after jumping out to an 18-point halftime lead, the Lady Hubbers used double-digit scoring performances from Elizabeth Hungiville and Abby Lutz to roll over Oswayo Valley.
Hungiville scored 12 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Lutz added 11 points. Sabrina Tanner compiled five points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Lady Hubbers, while Coryn McClain tacked on eight rebounds, six assists and four points.
“Right out of the start, we put a full-court press on and got some steals that led to some easy buckets,” Smethport coach Chad Goodman said. “I thought we came in with a lot more intensity than we have the past few games, and we really stressed that in practice throughout the week.”
Oswayo Valley was led by Makenzie Mesler and Jenna Freer, who scored six points each.

COUDERSPORT — Basketball is often referred to as a game of runs.
Wednesday’s contest between Coudersport and Northern Potter featured its fair share of them, but in the end, it was Coudy’s 16-1 run over the last 10 minutes that powered the Lady Falcons to a victory over NoPo.
After leading by four at halftime, Coudy found itself trailing, 30-21, with just under a minute to go in the third quarter. NoPo had out-scored Coudy 19-8 in the third frame, using buckets from five different scorers.
Coudy’s defense stepped up in the fourth, however, to shut down the Lady Panthers and allow the Lady Falcon offense to chip away at the lead.
“This was a hard-fought win and we were very fortunate to come out on top,” Coudy coach Joe Bunnell said. “NoPo did a great job on us defensively and gave us fits all night.”
Bel Porterfield led Coudy with 14 points, five rebounds and five steals, while Savannah Myers added eight points and six rebounds, and Emma Chambers tacked on seven points and five steals.
Rebecca Martin scored a team-high 12 points for NoPo to go with her nine rebounds, while Riley Thompson and Molly Cady each scored six points, Megan Hyde pulled down eight rebounds and Courtney Martin came away with five steals.

DUKE CENTER — Katie Sheeler led Otto-Eldred on both ends of the floor, racking up 16 points and seven steals, to lead the Lady Terrors in a blowout win over Cameron County.
Bri Heller stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Kate Rinehart added six points and nine rebounds.
“Still not happy with our rebounding, offensive execution or shot-making around the rim,” O-E coach Shawn Gray said. “However, our defense and our effort has shown up every night, so that makes me happy. We are getting to play some younger, less experienced players early on, so hopefully we will get deeper as the year goes on.”
