PORT ALLEGANY — Four players chipped in eight points or more and Coudersport’s defense forced 42 Port Allegany turnovers, leading the Lady Falcons to a Monday win on the road.
Savannah Myers led the way for Coudy with 10 points, while Bel Porterfield and Emma Chambers each scored nine points and Liz Frame tacked on eight points. Chambers also pulled down 12 rebounds, falling just short of a double-double.
Coudy trailed by a point at halftime before holding Port’s offense to seven points in the third quarter and just seven more in the fourth. The Lady Gators had built a five-point lead in the third stanza, but Coudy’s defense forced a string of turnovers, allowing the Lady Falcons to jump ahead by the end of the quarter.
“At halftime, we told the kids to believe in themselves and shoot the ball with confidence; believe that your next shot was going in,” Coudy coach Joe Bunnell said. “The kids seemed to respond and we were able to get things going on both ends of the floor.”
Chambers tallied seven points on her own in the final frame. Sierra Myers helped on both ends of the floor for Coudy, chipping in four points and six rebounds.
“We are a very capable offensive team, but haven’t shown it with much consistency yet,” Bunnell said. “Our defense was good, but not great tonight. We have a lot to improve on yet.”
Ella Moses fell just short of double digits in three statistical categories, compiling nine points, nine rebounds and seven steals. Evin Stauffer added seven points and seven rebounds for the Lady Gators, while Kayleigha Dowell tacked on eight points.

Austin 56, Cameron County 51, OT
EMPORIUM — Ella Brewer scored 36 points, including 10 in overtime, to lead Austin over Cameron County in a back-and-forth North Tier battle.
Brewer scored at least two baskets in each of the game’s five periods, but saved her best frame for overtime, when she knocked down three 2-pointers, one trey and a free throw to match CC’s overtime scoring mark on her own.
“Surrounded by a team that thrived together, Ella’s unfatigued will to win was demonstrated as much on the scoreboard as it was on the floor,” Austin coach Logan Gorg said.
Kendyl Welsh scored all four of her points for Austin in overtime, while Isabella Rees tallied 12 points for the Lady Panthers.
Aubree Lorenzo scored 17 points to lead Cameron County, while Mikenna Farabaugh chipped in with 10 points. The Lady Red Raiders were successful in getting to the free throw line, but once they got there, could not take advantage of their opportunities like Austin did. CC was 15-of-29 from the charity stripe; Austin finished 8-of-11.

Rebecca Martin was a menace on the defensive end, as well, nabbing four steals to go with her 10 points and nine rebounds.
Megan Hyde tacked on 12 points for the Lady Panthers, who built a 13-point lead at halftime before keeping the Lady Hubbers in check across the game’s final 16 minutes.

Sheeler scored a game-high 16 points while Merry scored 11 points, and each had six steals and three rebounds. Sheeler added three assists, as well.
“I thought our defense was pretty solid for the most part, but our rebounding wasn’t great,” O-E coach Shawn Gray said. “We missed a ton of easy shots, but we shared the ball very well, even though our offensive execution was lacking at times.”

ST. MARYS — It required an extra period of play, but after a comeback that saw Elk County Catholic erase a 14-point halftime deficit, Luke Jansen scored 19 points and Charlie Briendel stepped up at the free throw line in overtime to lead the Crusaders to an emotional home victory over DuBois.
