The Bradford Library is spreading Christmas cheer through a variety of programs during the month of December. Adults can get into the holiday spirit during four, free in-person events.
The first is the library’s crafting program, Copy Cat. Janelle Nolan, the library’s Marketing and Adult Programming Coordinator, will demonstrate how to create a wreath with pages from an old book. This event will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. All necessary supplies are provided, but participants are asked to bring a hot glue gun, as the library has a limited quantity. This program is limited to twelve participants, so interested parties are encouraged to register early. Call the library at 814-362-6527 or email marketing@bradfordlibrary.org.
Next, the library is celebrating the yuletide season with a screening of a heartwarming, made-for-tv holiday romance movie at the library at 6 p.m. Dec. 16. Watch with a friend or with your family. Participants will also play BINGO during the movie! Mark every snowball fight, cozy fire, and sleigh ride on a special bingo card, get BINGO and win prizes! Space is limited and registration is required.
The final adult programs will take place on Dec. 20. Beginning at 6 p.m., the community is invited to relieve some holiday stress during Yoga Sculpt. Local yoga instructor, Kathy Wright, is leading a FREE 30-minute, in-person yoga program at the library! Yoga Sculpt combines the benefits of traditional yoga with the benefits of strength training. Using light weights or just body weight, participants will improve endurance and mobility, while also toning muscles and strengthening their body. This program also streams Live on the library’s Facebook page. Then, at 7 p.m. on the same night, the library will test everyone’s knowledge of Christmas movies during a special edition of Trivia Night. If you have been bingeing Christmas movies since Thanksgiving, then form a team (4 people max.) or play individually and put that movie watching to the test! Either way, trivia nights have been a blast at the library. Registration is necessary for this program also.
Lastly, adults are urged to “Make your participation count!” Area adults will be rewarded for each adult in-person program they attend throughout December. Attend, have fun, and earn a ticket that will enter you into a raffle to win a $25 Amazon Gift card! Attend more programs, and earn more tickets! The sweepstakes raffle will be drawn on Dec. 21.
“Adults are not the only ones having fun this month”, reports youth librarian Debbie Deane. “We are offering several holiday-themed events for area youth and their families.” The fun kicks off on Dec. 13 during a Christmas ornament workshop, from 5 – 7 p.m. Come and create a Christmas ornament this year at the library. Wooden ornaments and paint will be provided for this free program that is open to all age groups.
Santa Claus will be visiting the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 18. Make sure the children bundle up, as this free program will be outside. Bring the kiddos to share their Christmas wishes with Santa, and he in turn will be handing out books to every child who comes to see him!
The library will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Celebration for area youth at 11 a.m. Dec. 31. Marty the Bubble Guy will be helping area children ring in the New Year during a special, outside program! Hot chocolate will be provided, then, at 12 p.m. confetti will help to usher in 2022!
A Christmas Wishes Contest is underway during this month also. Youth are asked to send the library their most important wish for this holiday in the form of a picture, letter, or video by December 21 to be entered into our contest. A random winner will be chosen for a Chamber of Commerce gift certificate. This contest is open to all area youth (0 — 18 yrs old). Send all entries to Miss Debbie at youth@bradfordlibrary.org.
In observance of the holidays the library will be closing at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23 and will be closed on December 24th and Christmas day. Normal library hours will resume on Monday, December 27. The library will be closed again on Dec. 31 — Jan. 1, 2022. Normal operating hours will resume Jan. 3, 2022.
