The December 6th Current Events Christmas Tea has been canceled.

Holly Puglio and Sarah Rhodes were our guests today and they were both welcomed as new members.

Harri Jane Moore introduced Shane and Bridget Oschman. They presented the program “100 Years Ago”. They are both veteran performers, having been involved in Les Miserables in Olean, “Jaws The Musical” in Bradford Little Theater and much more. First they sang and danced together. Next they sang a progression of songs showing maturing in life .First Bridget sang about loving the dictionary, moving on to reading Dr. Seuss. Then they both sang about being alone with a book and the secrets of a clover leaf. Ending their performance Shane sang the touching song from Les Miserables. Beautiful music played throughout.

Tea committee members serving were Judy Kuntz and Barb Black assisted by Cincy Benedict..

Our next meeting will be Friday Oct. 24, 2 p.m. at Hill Memorial UMC featuring Heather Pennington Violinist.

BAHS Alumni AssociationThe Bradford Area High School Alumni Association held its 2021 annual October banquet at the Bradford Club, with 56 reservations received.

There were 24 classes, between 1947 and 2004, represented at the banquet. Members and guests were welcomed back after having been “in limbo” for two years, due to the pandemic, and a moment of silence was held to honor the memory of 16 members who have passed away since the last dinner. Those remembered were: James Reid Haug, ‘57; Norma (Smith) Crooks ‘50; Mike Autieri, ‘50; Diana Bell ‘44; Don McCullough ‘44; Craig Hart ‘72; Diane (Herold) Warner ‘54; Joan (Balon) McAndrew ‘52; Ed Mackey ‘50; Mark Johnson ‘77; Bob Jarrett ‘58; Val Jean (Owens) Hitchcock ‘43 and Bruce Perry ‘50.

It was reported that the scholarship program came through the shutdown in very good shape and continued to fund four awards each year. A total of 49 have been presented to date. Members were thanked again for their continuing support of the project by way of dues and donations.

After the traditional awarding of prizes, twelve first-time banquet attendees were introduced, as were the group who meet as a committee for lunch on the fourth Thursday of each month to keep the association on track. Special recognition was given to Jim O’Neil, ‘50, who had driven from Watertown, Wisconsin to have dinner with his friends and classmates.

The group then took a trip down memory lane with the music of Kevin Abbott ‘70 and Grant Orris ‘68, who played songs of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The next banquet is scheduled for Oct. 8, 2022. Membership in the association is open to anyone who attended, whether graduated or not, or who served in the school in any capacity. Those interested in joining may do so by writing to Box 754, Bradford PA or by calling 814-368-6892.
