PORT ALLEGANY — In a tightly drawn contest, Austin squeaked by Port Allegany in four sets (27-25, 26-24, 23-25, 27-25).
Ella Brewer provided Austin with a huge defensive presence, earning 26 digs and three aces. Isabella Reese had three kills and two blocks while Mara Fowler did a little bit of everything with 11 assists, seven aces and seven digs.
For Port Allegany, Amber Funk racked up an absurd 61 digs. Leigha Nelson spread the ball around with 36 assists while Madaline Smith chipped in, earning 12 kills. Errors doomed Port, it committed 21 service errors in just 4 sets.
Port Allegany will play at Otto-Eldred on Tuesday, while Austin hosts Northern Potter.
Otto-Eldred 3, Smethport 0
DUKE CENTER — Otto-Eldred improved to 7-3 on the season after beating Smethport in three sets (25-15, 26-24, 25-17).
For O-E, Brianna Silvis had 10 kills and five digs. Katie Sheeler had nine kills, five digs and six aces. Kaylee Rhinehart had 14 service points, three aces, one kill and one block. Anna Merry handed out 23 assists.
For Smethport, Alyn Thomas had three aces, 10 service points, one assist, nine kills and one block. Baylee Fitzsimmons earned three aces, two service points, 19 digs and one kill.
Dani Nelson had three aces, two service points, 11 digs and one kill, while Madi Saef had two service points, one dig, 11 assists and one kill.
Otto-Eldred will host Port Allegany on Tuesday for its annual Pink Pumpkin game. The game raises money for the Pink Pumpkin foundation in Olean, dedicated to providing emotional and financial support for breast cancer survivors.
Northern Potter 3, Cameron County 0
EMPORIUM — Northern Potter won handily in three sets against Cameron County (25-10, 25-16, 25-12).
Abbie Cady led the scoring with 20 service points, two aces, five digs, one assist, three kills and one block. Megan Hyde had five kills. Molly Cady and Rebecca Martin chipped in with eight and four kills respectively, while Cady notched four blocks and Martin had two.
Courtney Martin had one ace, five digs, three assists, and five kills. Justine David did a bit of everything while distributing the ball to the tune of 18 assists, alongside five aces, five digs, four kills and two blocks.
