It took a few moments for Bradford’s offense to get in rhythm Wednesday.
Once the Owls boys soccer team found it, however, they found the back of the net five times, racing to a 5-2 win over Meadville at Parkway Field.
Meadville struck first on a goal by Alex Kinder in the second minute. Andrew Kane got the Owls on the board in the 12th minute, however, opening up a burst of Bradford offense.
Kane followed his first goal, which was assisted by Calyb Geist, with a second in the 20th minute. He dribbled the ball at the heart of Meadville’s defense, spun around a defender and beat the goalkeeper to give the Owls the lead.
Jake Franz followed with a highlight-reel goal in the 33rd minute, bending a ball from the top of the 18-yard box into the top corner of the net. Lucas Johnson assisted on the Owls’ second and third goals before joining Franz in assisting Mitch Strauss’ 39th-minute goal.
Kinder scored again for Meadville in the 42 minute before Geist added an insurance goal for Bradford late in the second half. Tristan Dragoone made three saves in goal for Bradford, while Alex Rimer made four saves.
Bradford won the junior varsity contest, 5-0.
Port Allegany/Smethport 10, Northern Potter 0
ULYSSES — A slew of quarantines left Port Allegany/Smethport shorthanded for its trip to Northern Potter.
A group of freshmen stepped up for Port, however, and led United to a double-digit win. Austin Hamilton, a freshman, provided three assists, while River Cramer and Justin Dunn each scored three goals and dished out an assist.
Aidan Emerick scored two goals and tallied two assists for Port, while Syrus Sauers and Noah Yeager each added a goal. Aiden Clark made 10 saves in net for Port while NoPo’s Malachi Lewis made 12 saves.
Kane 8, Coudersport 1
COUDERSPORT — Justin Mishic’s hat trick led Kane over Coudersport.
Jon Mishic scored two goals for the Wolves, while Josh Greville, Ethan Illerbrun and Max Smith each added a goal. Greville provided three assists, while Aaron Mishic added one assist.
Owen Hillard made three saves in goal for Kane.
GIRLS
Port Allegany/Smethport 2, Brookville 1
PORT ALLEGANY — Port Allegany/Smethport built a 2-0 lead in the first half and never looked back on its way to defeating Brookville.
Evin Stauffer and Alliyah Pennick each scored a goal for Port in a game that, like many others in the area, was heavily impacted by wet conditions.
Elisa Molnar scored Brookville’s goal, while Brielle Budd made five saves in goal for Port.
