SHINGLEHOUSE — With its third win in as many matches, the Oswayo Valley volleyball team has put the North Tier League on notice early this season.
The Lady Green Wave handed Otto-Eldred its first loss of the season, cruising over the Lady Terrors in straight sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-16). A trio of big-impact performances fueled OV’s sweep.
Jadyn Brabham tallied 14 kills, eight digs, three service points and a block for OV. Avaree Kellert added 11 kills, four blocks, 18 service points, seven aces and 10 digs, while Praylan Perkins stuffed the stat sheet with three kills, four blocks, five service points, three aces, 17 digs and an assist.
Trinity Lundy dished out 25 assists for OV, in addition to three service points, six digs and an ace.
O-E was led by Anna Merry’s 10 assists, while Carrie Drummond recorded five kills and Katie Sheeler compiled three kills and four digs.
Port Allegany 3, Coudersport 1
PORT ALLEGANY — Port Allegany honored its seniors with a four-set win over visiting Coudersport (25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 25-18).
Madeline Smith led the way for the Lady Gators with 17 kills and 12 digs, while Leigha Nelson racked up 21 assists, six aces and 27 service points. Amber Funk added 19 points and 20 digs for Port, and Ella Moses recorded 10 kills, 13 assists and 18 points.
Ava Wahlers led the way for Coudy with seven kills, four digs, two blocks and three aces. Liz Frame added 25 assists, two aces and four digs, while Sierra Myers tallied five aces, three kills and a block.
NORTH TIER LEAGUE
Austin 3, Cameron County 2
EMPORIUM — Through two sets, it appeared to be Austin’s match to lose.
Cameron County roared back and won two sets of its own, however, requiring a decisive fifth set in which Austin prevailed over the Lady Raiders (25-22, 25-19, 15-25, 22-25, 15-8).
Ella Brewer led Austin with 30 digs and 16 service points, while Mara Fowler collected 23 assists and 17 service points. Jade Williams added 10 kills for the Lady Panthers, Kendyl Welch tallied seven kills and two blocks, and Savannah Horton racked up seven kills, 10 digs and five aces.
CC was led by Aubree Lorenzo’s 11 service points, five kills and three assists. Caitlyn Palumbo added six points, seven kills and three assists, while McKenna Farabaugh tallied 28 assists and 12 points.
Northern Potter 3, Smethport 0
SHINGLEHOUSE — Northern Potter raced ahead of Smethport early on, winning the first set decisively before claiming narrow second and third sets on its way to a sweep (25-13, 25-21, 25-19).
Baylee Fitzsimmons led NoPo with 22 digs and two aces, while Dani Nelson tallied six kills, an ace, a dig, an assist and a block. Madi Faes added two aces, three digs and nine assists for the Lady Panthers, while Alyn Thomas recorded two digs, three kills and five blocks.
Smethport was led by Justine David, who tallied six aces, six digs, nine assists and four kills. Courtney Martin added 16 digs, an ace and a kill for the Lady Hubbers, and Rebecca Martin tacked on two aces, 10 digs, two assists, three kills and a block.
D9 LAUREL LARGE SCHOOL
Ridgway 3, Bradford 0
RIDGWAY — Despite 21 digs by Alexis Hardy, Bradford fell to Ridgway in straight sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-9).
Emma Swanson tallied five kills for the Lady Owls while Mikey Langeniese added four kills and two blocks.
D9 LAUREL SMALL SCHOOL
Elk County Catholic 3, Brockway 0
BROCKWAY — Tori Newton’s 11 kills and seven aces led the way for Elk County Catholic as it swept Brockway (25-8, 25-15, 25-9).
Maddie Bierley and Madison Marzullo each added five kills for ECC.
