JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — At Audubon Community Nature Center, the last Wednesday afternoon of the month is Creature Feature time for children and their adults.
From 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, the featured creature is Liberty, Audubon’s non-releasable Bald Eagle.
Bald Eagles are raptors, also called “birds of prey,” that use their keen eyesight for hunting. Other raptors include hawks and owls.
Creature Feature participants will visit Liberty at her outdoor habitat and see the progress being made on the construction of her neighboring building. Upon its completion, the Pamela A. Westrom Wildlife Habitat will be the home for additional birds of prey.
Come early to explore inside the nature center building or save time at the end of the program to adventure outside.
There is a fee for Nature Center members and children age 3 – 15, and it’s free for those two and under.
Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, and paid reservations are required by today.
Register by calling (716) 569-2345 during business hours or going to AudubonCNC.org and clicking through “Upcoming Programs.”
Walk-ins may be accepted if there is room; call for availability after the deadline.
