Busy weekend in store in the region

For those looking for fun events this weekend, here is a wrap-up of local area events:

    Summer Wine Walk:

The 8th annual Summer Wine Walk will run from 3:30 until 8 p.m. today in downtown Bradford.

The wineries along with the businesses that will be hosting them are as follows: Elk Mountain Wineries at Julie’s Ever After; Triple Nickel Distillery and Delong Enterprise at Cummins Country Charm; Bear Creek Wines at Little Fabric Garden; Winery at Wilcox at the Main Street Mercantile; Deer Creek Winery at the Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe; Laurel Mountain Vineyards at Grahams Florist; Twisted Vine Winery at the Magic Bean Cafe; Brokenstraw Valley Winery at the Bradford Creative Performing Arts Center; Wagon Wheel Wine at the Chamber of Commerce and the Brew Station at the Bradford Main Street Movie House.

Registration and porter service is at Michelle’s Flair for Hair at 104 Main St. Tickets can be purchased at Michelle’s Flair for Hair or at www.eventbrite.com.

To keep participants staggered so there aren’t large gatherings at one place, each ticket that is sold is in half hour increments from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

For more information, visit the “Bradford PA Wine Walk” Facebook page.

    Christmas in July:

Join downtown Bradford in a July Christmas celebration.

Santa will be joining the kids for breakfast from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Beefeaters on Congress Street.

Next up, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., there will be horse drawn carriage rides, starting in front of ERA Team VP Real Estate on Main Street. During this time, there will also be a variety of craft vendors located behind John Williams European Pastry Shop on Mechanic Street.

Mr. J will dazzle onlookers with magic starting at noon at Veteran’s Square. Also at Veteran’s Square from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. will be face painting, balloon animals and caricature drawings (there is a fee for the drawings).

Sidewalk sales will be happening at various downtown businesses throughout the day, with a free showing of “The Polar Express” at Main Street Movie House at 1:30 p.m.

For more information, visit the “Bradford Pa. Main Street” Facebook page.

    Kids and Cancer Benefit Run:

Registration for this event is from 9 until 11:45 a.m. at the Zippo/Case Visitors Center.

The blessing of the bikes starts at noon, followed by a parade of bikes through Bradford.

The mapped route for this run spans approximately 120 miles and event pins will be given to the first 500 participants.

Kids and Cancer Run t-shirts and Zippo lighters will be available for sale. Additionally, awards and door prizes will be given at the end.

The winner of the “Harley for Hope” will be drawn today as well, with the grand prize as a 2021 Harley Davidson Softail. The second prize winner will receive $1,000 and the third prize winner will receive a $250 gift certificate from Harley Davidson of Jamestown.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Kids and Cancer charity.

For more information, visit the “Kids and Cancer Benefit” Facebook page or kidsandcancerbenefitrun.com.

    Old Home Days:

Gates open at 11 a.m. today for the second day of the 2021 Otto Township Old Home Days. Along with a wide variety of food and craft vendors, the event boasts live entertainment by Drunkin Grownups, Adam Guthrie, Billy and the Neptunes, and Darkwater Duo; a car show; Redneck Olympics; horseshoe tournament; a magician and more, all topped off by a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. For a full schedule of events, visit the “Otto Township Old Home Days” Facebook page.

    St. Marys Airport Drag Races:

These “heads up” style drag races will take place at St. Marys Municipal Airport on Sunday, with gates opening at 10 a.m. and races running from noon until 5 p.m. While the drag racing is the main event, guests may also purchase some food and drinks at one of the several available vendors. For more information, visit the “Saint Marys Airport Drag Races” Facebook page.
