Recent Bradford Area High School graduate Mitchell Barker was the recipient of a Big 30 Academic Team Scholarship.

Each year the principals of the 32 Twin Tiers School Districts that make up the Big 30 area nominate their top students to represent their schools on the Big 30 Academic Team. Of those 32 students, four are chosen to receive the $1,000 Big 30 Academic Scholarships.

Barker is the son of Ronald and Bonita Barker of Bradford. He is a summa cum laude graduate, an Advanced Placement Scholar, a member of the BAHS Envirothon Team, a recipient of a National Math and Science Institute Star award, and an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He is attending Penn State Behrend in the fall.
