Oh, the stories that Bradford Landmark Society can tell.
For more than 50 years, the organization has been in the background, keeping record of local happenings. On June 19, Landmark Curator Sally Costik will give the history behind the organization’s YouTube video series, Coffee with the Curator, at a casual tea.
The June event — Tea with the Curator — is just one of several activities the group has planned throughout the summer months this year.
Other events include Patriotic and Popular Music, Women’s Creative Workshop, Kids Day at the Farm and Crooktop Old Time Music Festival at Crook Farm.
Tea with the Curator, to begin at 2 p.m. June 19, will include afternoon tea and sandwiches and a presentation by Costik. Attendance at the tea is limited to 30; those who want to come are asked to make reservations by calling the Bradford Landmark Society at 814-362-3906.
In each episode of Coffee with a Curator, Costik tells one historic story of the Bradford area. Links to the Coffee with the Curator videos can be found on Landmark’s website, www.bradfordlandmark.org.
For Patriotic and Popular Music, the Twin Tiers Community band will play at Crook Farm from 2 to 4 p.m. June 27.
Leading up to the annual outdoor concert will be a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the June 27 activities is free, and there will be hot dogs and ice cream for sale.
The seventh annual Women’s Creative Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Attendees must register, and there is a fee to attend.
More about the workshop will be posted on flyers and in the newspaper as the event comes closer. The workshop typically offers participants a chance to choose from several classes and to spend the day learning new skills alongside other women.
On Aug. 7, the community is invited to Kids Day at the Farm from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crook Farm. Participants will play old-fashioned games, take a tour of the buildings and learn about life on the farm. Lunch will be provided.
Attendees must also make reservations for Kids Day at the Farm by calling Landmark at the above number. Registration is limited. Cost is $5 to attend, and at least one parent or responsible adult must accompany a child.
The summer will wrap up with Bradford Landmark Society’s biggest annual event: the Crooktop Old Time Music Festival.
The festival will be held from Aug. 26-29 at Crook Farm. Attendance is free this year, and rough camping is available. The event will be scaled down and less organized than usual.
According to the event website, the “country fair” part of the event isn’t happening this year, and music activities will be more spontaneous. While there will be spaces set up to play music and hold workshops, activities won’t be scheduled beforehand. People will be welcome to dance outdoors.
Landmark will provide breakfast Sunday (Aug. 29) to those who purchased a ticket the day prior. There will be a potluck Saturday evening (Aug. 28) and a gospel sing Sunday morning.
