Bradford City firefighters responded to a house fire at 33 Bon Air Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Monday.
Nothing was showing as firemen arrived on the scene. While inspecting the home, thick, black smoke began filling the one-story, ranch-style home.
A second alarm brought off-duty city firefighters and Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department as the RIT team to the scene. Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department was on standby.
“As the primary search for occupants and the seat of the fire was being completed, one hand line was placed into operation extinguishing a rapidly advancing dryer fire located in the basement,” read a statement from Capt. Mike Scrivo. “Overhaul and ventilation followed with all fire damage held to the area of origin.”
Bradford City Police assisted on scene. Two EMS calls were answered in addition to the fire.
