A Bradford woman accused of stealing more than $130,000 from Bisett Building Center waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Tina M. Elder, 45, is facing felony charges including theft, forgery and access device fraud for allegations that she made numerous charges to the company’s Visa accounts, then electronically transferred funds from the business’ operating account in an effort to cover the charges, according to the criminal complaint.
She was employed as Bisett’s director of finance from Aug. 19, 2019, to Oct. 16, 2020, and she continued to have online access to the company’s business accounts until Nov. 16, 2020.
On three checks, Elder forged the signature of the vice president of operations without his knowledge or approval, the complaint alleged.
The audit concluded that she had taken $132,913.34, the complaint stated.
Bail in the case is set at $50,000.
Also appearing for preliminary hearing Wednesday was James P. Kemick, 36 of Bradford, who had charges against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge Richard Luther.
Kemick is facing charges of receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a second-degree misdemeanor. Court records indicate the charges stem from an incident Jan. 22 in Bradford Township.
Kemick is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Karlie A. Ryan, 25, of Bradford, waived a preliminary hearing for allegations that she fled from police and possessed drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The criminal complaint alleges that on April 13, Ryan was spotted by a Bradford City police officer who knew there was an outstanding felony warrant for her arrest. He made contact with her, but she ran. The officer chased her and was able to pin her against a wall, but she allegedly continued to resist and it took two officers to handcuff her.
Ryan was combative inside the police car, kicking the windows and banging her head against the cage separating the front and back seats, the complaint stated. She was allegedly found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a powder mixture believed to be cocaine/methamphetamine, too.
Ryan is in jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Eric D. Green, 30, of Bradford, had trespassing and drug charges bound to court at a hearing before Cercone.
According to the criminal complaint, at 12:48 a.m. April 13, Green entered the Edward Jones building at 81 Main St. through a rear door of the building. He remained inside until hours later, when an employee coming to work discovered him inside.
He was still inside the building when police arrived, and was in possession of amphetamine/methamphetamine, packaging for the drug and a clear glass pipe containing drug residue, police said.
Green is free on unsecured bail.
Matthew C. Borza, 42, of Bradford, pleaded guilty before District Judge Dominic Cercone to the lesser of two charges against him: a third-degree misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property. Court records filed at the time of Borza’s arrest alleged that he stole furniture from the Highrise apartment building in Bradford.
Borza was ordered to pay fines and costs.
