The Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, typically held the last week of April in Ridgway, is canceled for this year.
A statement to the rendezvous website, posted recently, announced the cancellation of the hugely popular event.
“We know the entire world is anxious to return to the normality that existed prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we have decided not hold the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous in 2021 because we do not have the resources to meet the requirements set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control for holding large events.”
Currently, Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 protocols for outdoor events state that all venues, regardless of size, are to operate at 50% of maximum capacity. Also, all attendees must be able to be socially distant and are to wear face coverings at all times when away from home.
The statement further explains that, “The Rendezvous draws carvers and admirers from all over Pennsylvania, the United States, and internationally which increases the likelihood of people travelling with the virus and exposing others. With appropriate mitigation and increased immunizations, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Ridgway next year.”
Interested buyers are encouraged to visit the lists of carvers who attended the rendezvous in 2018 and 2019 and support them by visiting their workshop, website or social media accounts.
