SNOW POETRY: Bill Robertson, like most of us, is annoyed with the snowfall this time of year, particularly at one specific time of day. He chose to pen a poem to that effect, and he shared it with our readers.
RUSH HOUR SNOW POEM
The storm switch is flipped at seven in the morning
And down pours the snow with nary a warning
The dawn is quite dark and snowy and grim
The driveway’s soon drifted and filled to the brim
Snow shovels gouge like prehistoric hands
The squall strikes with fury in unending bands
The car engine sounds like an old smoker’s cough
It doesn’t turn over ’til the gloves all come off
The roads are more slush than blacktop or brick
The greasy conditions make motorists sick
The traffic is forced to slow down to a crawl
As faster and faster the slick snowflakes fall
Windshields fog and are clotted with ice
Until getting to work is a toss of the dice
And it’s only Monday with four days to go
Ahead is a week’s worth of rush hour snow!
