Foster Township Police are investigating the alleged theft of a white 1996 Jeep Cherokee from the rear parking lot of Edmonds Chevrolet.
On Saturday afternoon, police posted to the department’s Facebook page a call for information from the public on the then-missing sport utility vehicle. On Saturday night, police reported that the SUV was discovered in Cattaraugus County, N.Y.
According to police, the SUV was stolen about 9:45 p.m. Friday, then was spotted at 12:01 a.m. Saturday traveling down Derrick Road in the direction of Derrick City. Two individuals in a green or dark-colored 1990s Jeep Cherokee with New York state plates allegedly assisted with the theft.
Foster Township Police is working with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation. Police said several individuals and agencies assisted in finding the Jeep, including the McKean County 911 Center and the Cattaraugus County 911 Center.
Police did not indicate that anyone was in custody for the alleged theft as of press time Sunday.
