    TOPS #16

The weekly meeting of Take Off Pounds Sensibly #16 was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church on 54 E. Corydon St., Bradford.

Co-leader Dianne Lewis called the meeting to order with the TOPS and KOPS pledge. Assistant weight recorder Barb Smead and Lewis weighed in 13 members with a loss of 26.6 pounds. Best loser of the week was Liz Tanner.

Nickelodeon was potatoes. The fruit is strawberries and the vegetable is spinach. The food to avoid is potato chips.

Healthy tips were given by Elaine Harris and fashion tips were given by Lewis.

Birthday awards were won by Pat Foote and Jeannie Miller.

For weight loss, members started up the bingo contest again.

For the program the members read from the TOPS magazine.

The meeting was adjourned with the Friendship Circle and the TOPS prayer.

    TOPS PA 623

The meeting of Take Off Pounds Sensibly PA 623 was held Tuesday evening with seven members weighing in.

It was the first no-gain meeting of the year with a loss of 2.8 pounds. One member stayed the same. Karen was the best loser. She also won the Hee Haw.

The “yes-yes” is to drink more water.

Jayme read an article called “What Foods to Eat to Lose Weight.” Ami finished the program from last week with a discussion on how members made time for their goals. Sue discussed how to cope with isolation during this pandemic.

    T.O.P.S. Chapter #1704

Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter #1704 met at 6:15 p.m. Monday at the Gleason Building, 90 Boylston St., second floor.

The meeting was brought to order by Silvana R., the chapter leader. There were six members who weighed in with a loss of 1.8 pounds.

This meeting was the first weigh-in for the year and Dyvonte’ M. was named Loser In Waiting. There was no Best Loser and Officer Of The Week was Silvana.

For the month of December there were eight members weighing in with a loss of 6.4 pounds. A Chapter King was crowned, who will be named at a later date.

During business discussions, a couple of new contests were set to begin. BINGO cards were distributed for those who would like to participate. In order to choose a number, the participant must weigh in for the week with a loss of at least a quarter of a pound. With each BINGO earned, the person will receive a small gift of their choice. The first two cards totally filled in will receive a larger gift. This contest is ongoing until two cards are filled.

The second contest will run for six weeks and is played with a regular deck of playing cards. Members are challenged each week to complete six tasks: drink five 8-ounce servings of water each day, journal one’s food intake for three days, exercise 30 minutes for three days, complete the “try” item for the week, avoid the “no no” item for the week and, of course, achieve a loss of at least a quarter pound or more. Pull a card for each task completed and total the face value of each card pulled. Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth 10 points each. Totals will be tallied each week and the member with the highest total at the end of six weeks is the winner.

Contests are created to have a little fun while trying to lose weight. They help support members to keep on task in their weight loss journey. Members can choose not to play.

The item to try this week is 30 minutes of exercise for three days, and the item to avoid is alcohol.

In closing of business discussions, members decided to move the time of their meetings. Weigh-ins will be from 5:30-5:45 p.m., and meetings will be from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. The group will still meet at the Gleason Building. Everyone is welcome to attend.
