The Friendship Table’s building remains closed for the rest of the week while members of its crew fight COVID-19, but the community has stepped up to ensure Bradford residents get fed.
• Today from 3 to 5 p.m. in front of the Friendship Table. The meal is sponsored by Grocery Stretcher and B & T Contracting.
• Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church garage at 54 E. Corydon St. The West Branch United Methodist Church will prepare and serve the meal.
The Friendship Table tentatively plans to reopen on Monday, Jan. 4.
The Blaisdell Foundation and Label Pack sponsored this past Monday’s meal, which was served from Beefeaters’ side door.
On Tuesday, Domino’s Pizza, Tops and First Presbyterian Church sponsored a meal served from First Presbyterian’s garage — the same location West Branch UM Church will serve from on Thursday. Serving was made contactless by having volunteers set the meals in bins, then having visitors pick up the meals out of the bins.
The Friendship Table closed on Dec. 21 due to concerns that one of the crew members was sick. Since then, it has been determined that four of the organization’s crew have COVID-19.
The Table has been serving record numbers of meals to community members since the start of the pandemic due to current economic conditions.
