SMETHPORT — During the week of Nov. 30, 107 students across DECA District 1 competed virtually in various business events. Smethport DECA had sixteen members compete, with 13 students advancing to the state level.
Those students claiming first place in their respective categories are: August Cox (First Place in Quick Service Restaurant Management); Chase Burdick (First Place in Accounting Applications); Ella Forquer (First Place in Principles of Business Management and Administration); Jenna Gregory (First Place in Retail Merchandising); Brandon Higley and John Adamoski (First Place in Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making); Jordan Pavlock (First Place in Personal Finance Literacy) and Alyn Thomas (First Place in Principles of Marketing).
Other students advancing to the state level include: Kassidy DiDomizio (Second Place in Food Marketing); Cadence Gamet (Second Place in Hotel and Lodging Management); Emily Higley (Second Place in Entrepreneurship Individual Series); and Richie McDowell and Trevor Zuver (Second Place in Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making).
Of those students, Pavlock achieved the highest written test score, while Parker Jack achieved the highest role play score and best overall combined score for Smethport.
