FIRE/COVID SAFETY: The Wolf Administration shared Home Heating Tips, considering the fact that this time of year is when we need to think about furnace maintenance:
Keep areas around your furnace free of clutter and combustible material; never set items on top of your furnace.
Regularly replace furnace filters.
Likewise, keep combustible materials a safe distance from vent/exhaust lines.
Call a professional if you notice a problem; many offer annual tune-up services.
“Fire safety is a health concern each year,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday this season, there is another major concern, COVID-19 safety. We encourage Pennsylvanians to spend the holiday with people in your household. If you must spend the holidays with people outside of your household, please wear your mask, wash your hands frequently and take your own food and place settings. We are at a critical point in the pandemic. Remember, if we all do not take steps to prevent the spread of this virus, we put our family, friends, and loved ones at risk.”

WILDLIFE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: For those who wish to nominate a student to the Wildlife Leadership Academy, referrals are currently being accepted for students age 14 to 17.
Nominated students should have an interest in wildlife and/or fisheries conservation.
Applicants may be nominated by an adult who knows them well; but is not a relative.
Accepted nominees will become certified through a five-day residential summer field school which focuses on a particular wildlife species, including white-tailed deer, bass, brook trout, turkey, and bear.
As Conservation Ambassadors, students can receive a letter of a recommendation for college applications; certification of community service work, and a certificate designating them as Conservation Ambassadors.
Students are also eligible to apply for three college credits through Cedar Crest College, return to the Academy tuition-free the following year, compete for college scholarships, and join an Academy Alumni Network of wildlife, fisheries, and conservation professionals.
