After nearly six years as executive director of the Bradford Area Public Library, Lacey Love is stepping down, effective October 9.
Love was hired as executive director in October 2014.
“I’d like to announce that I have accepted an offer to move back to the Pittsburgh area to become the library director of the Peters Township Public Library,” Love said. “As a Pittsburgh native, I’m excited to be living near my family again, but I have greatly enjoyed contributing to the Bradford community for the past six years. This is definitely a bittersweet moment.”
Lorna Smith, chairman of the board of trustees, stated, “The Library Board members and I were all very sad to hear of Lacey’s decision. It is sad, but perfectly understandable. Our little town is a long way from her home and family. She will be missed by the staff here.”
She continued, “The library will remain an active part of the community in the interim because of the people and programs that she has put in place during her tenure here in Bradford. She has been a tremendous asset when it comes to public outreach and development.”
Library staff will handle the day-to-day operations, while Seneca District consultant Leslie LaBarte and the board of trustees will manage the librarian and fiduciary operations.
While Love is heading back to Pittsburgh for the new job, she has offered to continue helping the library, by assisting the board of trustees with the hiring and transition process. The board will begin searching immediately for a replacement for Love.
Smith stated, “Lacey will be missed, but she has truly put the library in a much better place developmentally and strategically to transition into new leadership.”
For her part, Love thanked all who have supported the library.
“I want to say thank you to every single Bradford community member who walked through the library doors, donated money, attended a program, or volunteered their time,” Love said. “You are the reason that the library is such a valued institution in the community today!
“I would especially like to thank the members of the Board of Trustees and the library staff, who have allowed me to grow and learn as an executive director since 2014.”
