A Bradford man is facing criminal charges after allegedly flicking a lighter next to firecrackers inside Keystone Fireworks.
Richard D. Yovichin II, 60, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.
The criminal complaint states that on June 24, the store manager approached a Foster Township police officer to report an incident involving Yovichin that happened on June 23.
The officer watched store video footage, which showed Yovichin walk into the store, then flick a lighter at an employee at the front counter, according to court records.
Yovichin proceeded to shop, picking up two packages of fireworks, and approached a different employee at the front counter. He flicked the lighter next to a package of firecrackers, “which seemed to light some black powder on the outside of the box,” the complaint stated.
The employee asked Yovichin if he had ID to purchase the firecrackers, and he showed identification from the Federal Correctional Institution at McKean. According to the complaint, he asked, “Does this work?” The employee said no and explained he needed to show a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Yovichin left the store.
Yovichin was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
Yovichin has been in criminal court in the past for alleged neighbor disputes.
