The doors are still closed at Bradford Area Public Library due to COVID-19, but that has not negatively affected or impeded the library’s programming, library staff report.
The BAPL has offerings that can engage a variety of age groups.
Registration is currently open to all area teens and tweens (grades 6-12), through June 26, for a virtual summer art program. This program is possible due to the Teen Reading Lounge grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. The Teen Reading Lounge is an award-winning interactive book club designed for teens whose format includes book discussions as well as creative hands-on workshops.
The Teen & Tween Virtual Summer Art program is a six-week offering that will be led by local artist Laura Hickey. Hickey will use a variety of media to create some amazing works of art. The library is urging local youth to register early so that materials can be ordered to ensure everyone’s needs are met. This program is slated to begin at 4 p.m. July 9. Check the library’s Facebook page and website for links to this program.
Registration is also open through July 5 for the Adult Summer Reading Challenge. Local adults aged 18 years and above can register at bradfordlibrary.beanstack.org. This summer, reading books could make anyone a winner of a $50 Amazon Gift card. Adults simply need to complete any six reading challenges of their choosing to be entered into the library’s raffle. Complete all 10 reading challenges and earn a second entry. Adults can begin logging and tracking their books through Beanstack on July 6. The Adult Summer Reading Challenge is a six-week program.
Lastly, kick-off the summer barbeque season with an acoustic performance by local band inTWO. The band comprises young artists Wesley Stahl and Connor Brien. Visiting musician Matthew Picklo will accompany the band for this Facebook Live event at 5:30 p.m. this Saturday. Catch the event on the library’s Facebook page.
