POETRY: Frances Haight of Kane shared some poems with us about both big and little blessings. We are passing them along to our readers.
A Big Blessing
At the store by myself,
I had many things to buy,
The cart was filled and heavy,
And I breathed a tired sigh.
As I went to the checkout counter,
I wasn’t sure I could stand,
A young woman came over
To give me a helping hand.
She unloaded the entire cart
And went to the other end,
As I looked she had packed the bags,
And I definitely saw a friend.
I paid the checker with cash,
And turned to go on out,
The girl was nowhere in my sight,
My angel was gone, no doubt.

Because
Because of the blessings
In my life gone past,
I learned many things
Although our lives go so fast,
I learned to love others,
I learned how to cope,
I learned to trust the Lord,
And how to have strength and hope,
I learned to keep busy,
With my hands and my mind,
I learned to help other people,
And there were many friends to find.
I learned to pass to others
The blessings and the love,
And to give all of it from my heart
And to thank the Lord above,
So when you are sad,
And tired and so blue,
Give others a helping hand
And you will be blessed, too.
