A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail for three separate criminal cases this year.
Shawn M. Mott, 29, of 2 Bushnell St., room 507, is charged in the first case with possession of an offensive weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. In a second case, he is charged with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors, and a summary count of disorderly conduct. In a third case, he is charged with criminal trespass-breaking into a structure, a second-degree felony.
According to the criminal complaint in the first case, on Feb. 21, an off-duty police officer contacted Bradford City Police to tell them Mott was walking his dog near East Corydon Street, and that he knew there was a warrant for Mott’s arrest. An officer found Mott shortly thereafter near Tops and told him there was a warrant for his arrest. Mott became argumentative, and began backing away and clenching his fists. The officer threatened Mott with a taser, and Mott eventually complied. He was found to be in possession of a used syringe and an illegal bi-folding knife, the complaint read.
He was arraigned in February and released on unsecured bail.
On April 2, Mott was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for the alleged unauthorized use of a registration plate. Mott refused to give any information to the police. When an officer found a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in Mott’s pants pocket, he told police someone else must have worn the pants first, the criminal complaint alleged.
Mott was arraigned on this case on Monday.
On May 14, Bradford City Police were called to a suspected break-in on Kiwanis Court. A ground-level window was open, a plant stand inside was knocked over and a ballcap was found on the ground. A few hours after police left, Mott approached the apartment and appeared to be looking for something. When the resident asked him, he said he was looking for his hat, the criminal complaint stated.
He left the area, but returned several more times looking for his hat, and told the resident he had broken in because he believed a woman named Kim was being held at gunpoint inside the apartment. Police arrested Mott two days later. He admitted to police that he had broken in, that he was under the influence of methamphetamine and believed his girlfriend was being held inside the apartment, the complaint read.
Mott was arraigned on this case on Saturday. He is currently jailed on a total of $17,500 bail.
He is scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Judge Dom Cercone on May 27.
