On Tuesday, the state health department noted a death in Warren County due to COVID-19, and across the border in New York, one COVID-19 death was reported in Cattaraugus County as well.
In Pennsylvania, there were 1,296 additional positive cases of COVID-19 reported, bringing the statewide total to 34,528. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19. Dr. Rachel Levine, secretary of health, said the positive case count now includes probable cases as well as confirmed cases.
McKean County has an additional positive, bringing the number to 5 positive cases, and 132 negatives. All five cases are within the Kane ZIP code.
Potter County has four positives and 61 people who have tested negative; Cameron County has one positive and 19 who have tested negative; and Elk County has two positives and 119 negative cases.
In addition to the one death, Warren County has two positive cases and 137 people who have tested negative. Jefferson County has three positives, and 258 people who have tested negative. Forest County, where there is a state prison and many camps belonging to people outside of the area, has seven positive cases and 21 people who have tested negative.
Tioga County has reported two deaths, 15 positive cases and 177 who have tested negative.
As of Tuesday, there were 2,743 patients hospitalized across the state with COVID-19, 655 of whom were on ventilators.
Levine said that to date, hospitals in the southeast part of the state, in the Philadelphia region, are the only ones who have been challenged in keeping up with the number of sick patients.
“It’s the most population dense areas,” she said.
